SAD NEWS IN THE FREESKI SCENE / RIP CR JOHNSON

25.02.10 | Freeski News

They are some news you wish they’d have never been dropped into your mailbox.

C.R. JOHNSON, amazing freeskier, passed out yesterday in Squaw Valley, UT.
He lost control while stricking a rock during a freeride run and he immediately appeared lifeless. Despite wearing a helmet, he suffered immense trauma to his head and neck.

Ski Patrol efforts to resuscite him were unfortunately helpless.

Johnson already suffered a traumatic brain injury in December 2005 when another skier landed on him while skiing inbounds at Brighton Ski Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. He was induced in a coma for 10 days but he amazingly got back on his skis, with the help of skier and friend Tanner Hall.

His 3rd place at the Red Bull Linecatcher Event (big mountain freestyle contest inVars, France) on January 13, 2010, was a wonderful proof of his performances.

Yesterday, the freeski scene lost a great athlete and a friend.

All our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Rest In Peace CR.
