Nordica Freeskiers press release

02.05.10 | Freeski News

More than 20 Nordica Freeskiers gathered in the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno on the 24th-25th April for an amazing weekend of freestyle skiing!

The new additions to the Nordica Freeskiers Team came together last weekend in the renowned freestyle resort of Livigno.  The last camp of a successful season, saw the new National and European Team riders come together as a complete team for the first time, a sign of things to come for the future winters! Over two days the team enjoyed a deluxe freeski session with photo shootings, film shoots, a great funpark with a premium big air line, both Team and Best Trick Battles, all glued together by the parties of the supporting partners.

The winners of the Team Battle between Italy (2 teams), Austria (3 teams), and Switzerland (2 teams) were the Nordica Swiss riders Cyrill Hunziker and Yannic Lerjen, congratulations! The Best Trick was awarded to Marco Eydallin, from italy, with a perfect flatspin 1080!

On Saturday morning the Nordica Teamriders from Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland arrived in Livigno, Italy. They were clearly motivated to ski the famous Swatch Mottolino Snowpark, and their expectations were met. The Snowpark was in a great shape, with a huge kickerline consisting of 3 tables and one step-over awaiting their arrival. During the weekend professional photographers and filmers were on hand to record the action. Sunday was the time for the Team Battle and Best Trick Contest between the National Teams. Each country had Teams consisting of two skiers. Both skiers had to do a Style Trick and a Technical Trick, with the two combined amounting to the best Team. The level was very high. We saw Switch 900°, Double Flips, 1080°, Cork 900° and great Style Tricks.

But it was Yannic Lerjen and Cyrill Hunziker, representing Switzerland, who won the competition both with clean Switch 540° double Grabs for the Style Category and Switch 900° Mute Grab for Technical Category. The sought after prize, which bought huge smiles to their faces, was four days of photoshooting in Livigno, a Mottolino Season Pass for 2010/11 and an X170 Action Cameras.

Following the Team Battle the session was opened to the general public for a best Trick Competition. However, with the talented Nordica riders on site it was a one-sided affair.  Amongst the technical and stylish tricks, there was one standout. The Flatspin 1080° from Marco Eydallin, which was enough to seal the victory. Winning a Mottolino Season Pass and X170 Action Cameras it was easy to realise why Marco left the weekend with such a grin on his face.

Since last winter Nordica Freeskiers have scouted new Teamriders and have stormed the growing scene with a new freeski concept: To find the best riders through out Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy and provide the support and help they need to grow and develop into stars of the evolving freeski scene.

In order to find the best riders to represent Nordica Freeskiers, the unique concept organized scouting camps throughout Europe this winter: 8 Wee Camps in Italy and 2 Daredevil Sessions for Austria, Switzerland and Germany.  The final Camp in Livigno last weekend brought all the Nordica Freeskiers together as a Team for the first time.

The jam packed weekend of events, sponsored by Nordica Freeskiers, provided a great opportunity for feedback from all their riders, an important part of the process. "This weekend was one of our favorites, the sickest team trip ever!" The partners Monster, Volkswagen, Swatch Mottolino Snowpark Livigno, Asahi Beer, M20 Radio, Action Cameras and Fat Cans completed the supporting partners and together they provided great entertainment for both the new Nordica team and also the holidaymakers of Livigno. Impressed by the level of freeskiing, the professionalism of the riders and the positive atmosphere of the whole weekend, we can be sure to see more events happening here in the future.

Nordica are creating the perfect synergy between their riders and their brand, securing a long-term commitment to freeskiing.  With team riders throughout Europe this season and great plans for next winter, we are looking forward to the future of freeskiing.  We wish our riders and all others a great summer – hear you soon!
